Life conspired against me last week, and I failed to send out my weekly missive on all things related to games and comics. Therefore this week’s email is double-size!
First, we have last week’s Arbiter of Worlds episode (#15), wherein I discussed the “Law and Economic” approach to game design that I’ve taken in ACKS as well as the GMing style I use.
Then we have this week’s AoW episode (#16), in which I discuss the origin of the “quadratic wizard, linear fighter” problem and explain how ACKS addressed the problem successfully, with lessons learned for GMs who enjoy house ruling.
For those of you who are more interested in the ACKS II Actual Play series “The Grey Brotherhood,” I have not one but two new episodes. Episode 5.5 was an episode I didn’t even intend to release — the party was just engaging in some downtime travel and recruitment in between our biweekly games. It turned out to be such an engaging half-session that I offered it up as a half-episode.
Things get meaty again in Episode 6, as the Grey Brotherhood returns to the Buried Temple of Sakkara and find itself enveloped in a two-pronged ambush against hordes of kobolds.
Over at my Ascendant: Platinum Edition Kickstarter page, I’ve shared some sneak previews of the amazing art that is going into the Ascendant Rogues Gallery, and announced the addition of a new artist to our roster of freelancers, one Debora Carita. Here’s an example of her amazing work:

In addition to working on Ascendant Rogues Gallery and Arbiter of Worlds I’ve continued my breakneck pace of development on ACKS II. Adventurer-tier backers of my Patreon have now gotten v100 of the ACKS II Revised Rulebook, while King-tier backers have the latest draft of the ACKS II Monstrous Manual and Conqueror-tier backers will soon be getting an update of the ACKS II Judges Journal. If you’ve been wanting to check out how ACKS II is shaping up, you can head over to the Patreon now.
